The purpose of this Law shall be to ensure the implementation of equal rights for women and men guaranteed by the Constitution of the Republic of Lithuania, and to prohibit any type of discrimination on grounds of sex, by reference in particular to marital or family status. The provisions of this Law shall not apply to family and private life. The provisions of this Law have been harmonised with the legal acts of the European Union referred to in the Annex to this Law
