New Masculinities. Men facing change in women
In recent years we have witnessed a social change of considerable dimensions, what some scholars have called the social ascent of women. In this context, gender studies have addressed this phenomenon, as it represents a break with long-standing social allocations of space. However, the world of men has not been addressed by these studies until very recently, when the social sciences have begun to ask: What is happening to men? The intention of this paper is to address this masculine reality, starting from the existing theory on masculinities and using the focus group as a sociological research technique, with the intention of locating in the social space potential new masculinities fearful of new scenarios characterised by uncertainty.
