Taking the pulse of the gender perspective: a case study in a university physical education teacher training institution

A case study explores how the gender perspective is addressed in the training of physical education teachers in a university institution. Equality policies in the European university context place us in the ideal framework to review the issue of gender in teacher training, as it has often been considered a marginal aspect of the curricula, and has been relegated to an optional subject. Thus, the aim is to take the pulse of the current situation and investigate teachers’ attitudes towards gender issues, while assessing their pedagogical treatment in the university training of future Physical Education professionals.
