Research project by Safe Ireland – Gender Matters in Ireland 2019

The project was undertaken due to increasing consensus that violence against women is best understood and prevented when it is viewed through the prism of individual, group and societal attitudes towards gender equality. The findings indicate evidence of excusing and minimising gendered behaviours.

Gender Matters in Ireland 2019 consisted of quantitative and qualitative surveys which explore attitudes towards to the division of tasks in the home, views on feelings and emotions, equality at work and on people’s awareness and understanding of domestic abuse and coercive control.
