Inequalities in the digital world? Gender gaps in the use of ICTs
March 2020 research project asking about possible gender inequalities in the digital world.
Digital technologies are advancing very rapidly, generating economic and social transformations. In today’s interconnected society, access to and use of information and communication technologies (ICTs), such as the internet and mobile phones, are key to expanding people’s opportunities. Technological advances are having a major impact on the way we work, the way we learn and, more generally, the way we interact. Having access to new technologies and the skills to use them is essential to reaping the benefits that technological advances can bring (e.g. improving the chances of getting a job), and minimising the risks (e.g. unemployment as a result of automation).
